Arlington, Virginia — Today, the American Trucking Associations announced that Ray Martinez, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will be the featured speaker during the federation’s Board of Directors Meeting at the trucking group’s annual Mid-Year Management Session, May 5-8, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“The Mid-Year Management Session is a time for ATA’s leaders and members to gather together and take stock of where we are as an industry and where we are headed,” said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear. “I can think of no one who our industry should be listening to – and talking to – more than Administrator Martinez, and we are pleased to have him speaking with us in May.”
During the Mid-Year meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to hear the latest from Administrator Martinez on the hours of service rulemaking to address the desired flexibility that the trucking industry has been calling for, the progress FMCSA has made on implementing its corrective action plan for the Compliance, Safety, Accountability program, and more.
In addition, this year’s program includes a panel discussion, moderated by Texas Trucking Association President and CEO John Esparza, featuring Werner Enterprise CEO Derek Leathers, Bison Transport Inc. President and CEO Rob Penner and ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello, on trucking’s role in international trade.
The 2019 Mid-Year Management Session is ATA’s annual spring meeting where members and industry leaders can get involved in the exchange of information, network, hear advocacy updates and influence the direction of the industry.
This year’s event will be held May 5-8 at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn in Scottsdale.
